Enjoy fishing with Riverside Sportfishing Charters at the Niagara River, Niagara Bar and Lake Ontario!
When lake fishing out of the Lower Niagara River, known as the Niagara Bar, you will experience the effect of the greatest fish magnet on Lake Ontario; the Niagara River itself. The Lower Niagara River has a greater volume of water flowing through it daily than any river in the world.
In the spring, the river introduces a large amount of warmer water, which helps it trigger the beginning of our great spring fishing season. The river serves as a great spawning area, not only for a variety of game fish but bait fish as well. The summer months offer great steelhead and lake trout fishing. When August comes, the Kings are back! These great fish stage out in front of the river preparing to return (to the river) for their final run.
If you need more convincing, just review the past years derby results. Not only were more fish caught in the area, but also many derby winners have been caught right here. Come see for yourself what Lake Ontario and the Lower Niagara River have to offer.
Early Spring:
This near-shore fishing for Spring Kings is second to none! These fish in the 15 to 20 lb. range can put on quite a show and tire an arm! Also, Cohos and Browns are common.
Summer:
As the water warms, the fish head out off shore. Summer Kings and Steelhead are my targets. During August the Kings are back staging for their spawning run. Some of these giants are tipping the scales at over 30 lbs.
